LMS Jubilee Class 5690 Leander was used on the shuttle runs from Keighley-Skipton-Hellifield-Settle junction.Last run in the evening over the Settle & Carlisle Railway to Blea Moor.Fantastic day.

A mixed day lineside with the weather doing all sorts of things at the wrong moment.Another obstacle was the mass of weeds everywhere so more gardening than photography it seemed at times.Having said all of this an enjoyable day it was.

North Yorkshire Moors Spring Steam Gala featuring guest locomotive Peppercorn A1 Class 60163 Tornado making its first apperance on the railway.Other locomotives on duty today were A4 Class 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley with a ful teak set, S&DJR 7F 53809, NER Q6 63395, BR Standard 4MT 75029 & LNWR G2 Class (Super D) 49395 .

Another excellent gala put on by the KWVR.Got up early to drive over to Haworth for the shed line up well worth it what an amazing sight.Star of the shoe was visiting Britannia Class 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' looking wonderful in the Worth Valley countryside.Thanks to all those people at the KWVR for putting on another fabulous event.

Being my local railway this section will include shots taken down at the GCR one of the best preserved railways in the UK.Updated throughout the year.

Over the next few weeks photographs will be added of the Santa Specials.

With the promise of cold weather and sun I could not miss another day at the GCR.When I arrived the opposite a blanket of cloud covered the vale.Thankfully that soon cleared and a good day was had.In steam was LMS Jubilee Class 5690 Leander on her final weekend at the GCR.The other engine in steam on driver training was 04 Class 63601 but it did pull the 2.15 departure..Inside the shed at Loughborough was 70013,3440 and outside 850.

Following the re-naming of BR Britannia Class 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' as 'Territorial Army 1908-2008' on Saturday 8th November,and to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Territorial Army the GCR held a service of remembrance at Loughborough station which I was proud to be part of.The 11am silence was marked by the whistle of 70048 and along side was 04 Class 63601 with a Union flag draped over the front end.Sadly the weather did its best to spoil the day after a glorious start when I got up.

GWR 3700 Class No 3440 City of Truro was on duty over the weekend on the GCR.Lovely looking steam locomotive.

Two days of photographs from a very busy timetable don't blink or you will miss something.Fabulous two days weather much better on Friday than Saturday which was overcast.Very busy both lineside and on the trains.It was standing room only on some of the trains and on the platforms at both Loughborugh & Quorn you could hardly move.Great to meet up with Roger Gurney very nice gentleman please check out his website at http://rogergurney.fotopic.net/ Many wonderful old photographs of real steam so don't miss going and having a look.Many thanks to all at the GCR for putting on one of the best gala weekends ever.Excellent day.

NYMR Steam Gala and what a beautiful day it was.Star of the show was BR Standard 8 Class 71000 Duke of Gloucester.Other locomotives in action today was NER Q6 Class 63395,LNWR Super D Class G2 49395,LMS Black 5 45231 'Sherwood Forester' A4 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley'.Fantastic day spent in beautiful countryside with stunning weather.

Today was the first time the new A1 Class No 60163 was on duty to pull its first passenger service.It was for covenantors only the first departure from Quorn station at 10.15am.The day was perfect beautiful sunshine and a touch a cold air in the morning for the first run that I photographed over Swithland viaduct.Fantastic day and with everyone else at the Severn Valley Railway for the gala it was very quiet lineside. Wonderful.

Steam always look good in sepia so this will be a collection of shots done in sepia.

A visit to the GCR at Loughborough MPD to see the first steam locomotive to be built for 50 years.What a sight for sore eyes 60163 is a wonderful achievement for all involved.Locomotives in steam today was BR Standard 2 78019 & GWR Large Priarie No 4141.Also shots taken on Sunday 5th October included the 04 Class 663601.

The Fifteen Guinea Special Commemoration Tour IT 57 with BR Britannia class No 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' at Horton in Ribblesdale on the Settle & Carlsile Railway.Despite the shocking weather it was a fantastic day not too be missed and never to be forgotten.Awesome.

The GCR have a rare visitor on their lines for the next three weeks with SR Lord Nelson class No 850 'Lord Nelson'.The only example of this class will be running in and also in use for the 'Mail by Rail' gala. Also shots of No 78019 and work in the shed at Loughborough.

A lovely Sunday morning spent at the GCR to see another stunning performance from No 70013 Oliver Cromwell.Also 30777 Sir Lamiel and 78019 standard 2 were in action.Some shots also included from the previous weeks action.

Re-dedication ceremony at the GCR Loughborough station for BR Britannia class No 70013 Oliver Cromwell.Invited VIP so I stayed away from the official ceremony and stayed lineside to capture more action of this lovely looking locomotive.I did venture back to Loughborough to get some shed shots.Very warm day lineside.

Great Central Railway Saturday 3rd May 2008 saw the return of BR Brittania 4-6-2 No 70013 'Oliver Cromwell'.After nearly 4 years of restoration the staff at the GCR have made this day possible my thanks to them for all the hard work.No 70013 was the last steam hauled train used by BR in 1968.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway opened its doors at Grosmont shed to the public on Friday 4th April.The event was to line up 3 of the A4 class locomotives on shed at Grosmont.What a sight it was for all those that made the early start of 7.30 never to be forgotten.When all 3 A4s let of a whistle it was a momentous occasion.

NYMR LNER gala first weekend 29th March.Perfect start with lovely sunshine but by 2pm the clouds came and the heavens opened.However it was still a great event despite the weather doing its best to spoil the sights.There was 3 A4s in service those being No 60007 60009 & 60019 with V2 No 4771 for me the star of the show.

Saturday was spent at the GCR steam gala very windy but sunny.Alot of lineside interest with star of the show GWR Hall 4953 Pitchford Hall from Tysley Locomotive Works.Other locomotives were SR King Arthur 30777 Sir Lamiel, LMS 4F 44422, and the home fleet.

A visit to the Great Central Railway to try out my new lineside pass.Also a look around the shed at Loughborough.

What an amazing day this was.Fabulous place my second visit to this historic roundhouse and I can't wait to return.Great atmosphere inside just to stand and listen to the locomotives simmering inside the roundhouse is not to be missed.You come away with the smell on your clothes not to mention bits in your hair.Nice to have met Clive Hanley inside the roundhouse although he did have a worried look on his face when I said to him are you Clive Hanley.Don't worry Clive I have seen you before at various locations with Mike Snow & Brian Burrows but never introduced my self until yesterday.Thanks to everyone at Barrow Hill for another great gala.

I have a lineside pass for the NYMR so went up for the weekend.Great time Sunday best day with the sun out nearly all day. Afternoon departure at Midland Railway Centre over Butterley reservoir. Ex LNER V2 No 4771 Green Arrow visits the Nene Valley Railway.

Put my lineside pass into use for the first time at a NYMR gala plenty of motive power for everyone to enjoy. Cracking day in the sunshine lovely scenery great action good company along the line. Many thanks to all at the NYMR for putting on a great day.

Drove up to Pickering to take my PTS exam for my lineside pass. Then spent the day making use of it photographing the days action in perfect weather. Just hope for more of the same at the LNER gala.

My day started off at 9am with No 60009 photographed near Newark on Trent. Then I did the 350 mile round trip to Shap to see No 6201 what a sight she was. Then back down the A1 to see the return of No 60009 through Newark Northgate station finished off the day nicely at 6pm.

York-Wansford Light engine move for LNER 'Green Arrow' No 4771 taken at Grassthorpe crossing near Newark on Trent. Running eight minutes late but in lovely sunshine. Did get to see her on Saturday at Collingham station running 45 minutes late.She arrived at the sametime a DMU had arrived and stopped so myself and other photters did not get the chance to see her approach around the nice curve. Shame would have been a lovely sight the conditions were right and she looked great from what we saw of her going through the station.

Purchased a lineside permit this year so I now try and get up here whenever I can. Photographs from my outings.
